IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 insulin-like growth factor 1) is a modified recombinant analogue of IGF-1. An arginine substitution at position 3 and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension reduce affinity for IGF-binding proteins, which studies associate with a substantially longer circulating half-life than native IGF-1.
Published work has examined IGF-1 signalling in cell proliferation, differentiation, and anabolic pathway activation, including interactions with the PI3K/Akt and MAPK cascades.
