Epitalon

Epitalon — also written Epithalon, and known in Russian-language sources as эпиталон — is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) based on a sequence isolated from pineal gland extract. All three names refer to the same compound. It is best known as a longevity peptide, linked to telomeres, the protective caps on chromosomes that shorten as cells age.

Studies have examined epitalon in relation to telomerase activity and telomere length in cell culture, circadian and melatonin regulation, and markers associated with cellular ageing. Much of the available literature consists of preclinical and small-scale work.
