PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, acting as an agonist at melanocortin receptors, principally MC3R and MC4R.
Research distinguishes its mechanism from vasodilatory approaches: rather than acting on peripheral blood flow, studies describe activity within central nervous system pathways associated with sexual arousal. Nausea and transient blood-pressure changes appear among reported adverse events in the clinical literature.
Supplied as a lyophilised powder in a factory-sealed vial. Store at −20 °C, protected from light. For laboratory research use only.
